Christina Pirello, Emmy Award-winning host of Christina Cooks! PBS TV, will speak on This Crazy Vegan Life. In her twenties she overcame cancer by disciplined healthful eating under the guidance of her husband-to-be Robert. Christina is a professor of culinary arts at The Restaurant School, Walnut Hill College, and author of five cookbooks, including “healthiest cookbook” Cooking the Whole Foods Way. Her hometown is Philadelphia PA.

Andy Mars, PhD in Education, will speak on Cultivating Caring Hearts: Empowering Kids to Make a Difference. He operates an array of programs for kids (camps, community service programs, and a new nonprofit K-12 school)—all of which are vegan. An AVS Trustee since 1987, he is a key force behind many other nonprofit organizations and causes, including major vegan events in Los Angeles. Dr. Mars is passionate about, and committed to, making a difference wherever, whenever, however he can.

Scoville Blues, Battle of the Bands winner, will be performing. The musicians are Dave Piersig (lead vocals/percussion), Jay Pinkus (lead guitar/vocals), Dave Badgley (harp/sax/vocals), Jim Bowman (drums/percussion), and Ken Githens (bass guitar).
